Privacy Policy

Effective September 18, 2026. Hillion is operated by Jonathan Cline (“we”, “us”). Questions or requests: privacy@hillion.io.

Hillion is a trivia game you play in a browser with friends. This page explains what information we collect, why, who else may see it, and how to get it deleted. Some features described here (accounts, subscriptions, advertising) may not be switched on yet; the sections that only apply when they are on say so.

1. Information we collect when you play

2. How answers are scored

Answers are scored with the help of an AI service provided by Anthropic. The question and the answers for a round are sent for scoring without player names or any account information. Anthropic's handling of that data is described in its privacy policy.

3. Accounts (only when accounts are enabled)

You never need an account to play. An account is only used to buy a subscription. If you create one we store your email address and, if you sign in with Google, the identifier and name Google provides. We keep you signed in with a cookie. There are no passwords; sign-in links are sent by email through a mail delivery provider.

4. Subscriptions (only when subscriptions are enabled)

Payments are handled by Stripe, which collects your payment details directly; we never see or store card numbers. We keep the references needed to know what you have paid for. Stripe's handling of payment data is described in Stripe's privacy policy.

5. Advertising (only when ads are enabled)

Players without a subscription may see ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and manage ad personalization at adssettings.google.com. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before advertising cookies are set, and you can change your choice at any time from the link in the site footer. Subscribers are not shown ads.

6. Who else sees your information

Only the service providers we rely on to run Hillion: the AI, payment, sign-in, email, and hosting providers described above. Our servers are in the United States. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with anyone else, except where the law requires it.

7. How long we keep it

Information from a game is kept only as long as needed to run and improve the game, and is then deleted or reduced to statistics that do not identify anyone. Account information is kept until you delete your account or ask us to delete it. Backups are kept for a short period and then overwritten. Stripe keeps payment records as required by financial regulations.

8. Your rights

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to how it is used, by emailing privacy@hillion.io. If you have an account you can delete it yourself from the account menu. We answer within 30 days. If you are in the EEA or UK you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority. If you are in California, the rights above are the ones the CCPA gives you; we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined there.

9. Children

Hillion is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

10. Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and, where we can, tell you in the game. Continuing to play after a change means you accept the updated policy.
